Dendritic Agate is known as the Stone of Plenitude. It brings prosperity, growth, abundance and fullness to all areas of life. Agate promotes inner stability, composure, and maturity. Its warm, protective properties encourage security, confidence and self-acceptance. Dendritic Agate is an emotional stabilizer, encouraging its wearer to remain centered during times of confusion or when dealing with perceived obstacles. This stone is believed to support perseverance and the ability to experience difficulties as an opportunity for change.
Dendritic Agate may be used to enhance the yield of crops or to maintain the health of house plants.
Dendritic Agate, sometimes called Tree Agate, gets its name from a Greek word meaning tree-like. These Agates are usually colourless, white, or grey, and have tree- or fern-like inclusions of iron or manganese, called dendrites.
Ancient Romans valued the Agate for its reputed medicinal and talismanic properties. Powdered and mixed with water, it was said to counteract serpents' venom. Pliny, a Roman historian, quoted the Magii as teaching in Persia that storms might be averted by burning Agates. The wearing of Agate was believed to be a cure for insomnia and was thought to induce pleasant dreams. Dendritic Agate honors Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the Hunt and Childbirth. She represents the love of the mountains and the forests where she chose to spend her life. Her comfort is sought by women in labor.
Dendritic Agate's affirmation is: "I am nourished by the Earth and life itself."
