The beautiful green Chrysoprase is the second most valuable variety of Chalcedony right after the highly prized Gem Silica. The name "Chrysoprase" comes from the Greek for "golden apple" or "golden leek."
Chrysoprase is a talisman of growth and development, an excellent crystal for problem-solving, acting with compassion and finding new opportunities and angles. It is a stone of hope, creativity, acceptance and forgiveness. It has metaphysical properties for healing a broken heart as well as being a stone to attract new love, good luck, abundance and prosperity. It promotes joy and happiness and brings through the vibration of Divine Truth, while helping to heal the heart of the energy of depression and anxiety. Chrysoprase is said to heal a broken heart, it increases compassion and helps overcome jealousy.
Chrysoprase was known to the ancient Greeks and Romans. A few pieces have been found among their artifacts, but its use in that time was not common. Chrysoprase first became a popular gem in Europe after deposits in Poland were discovered in the 1700s. Today, most Chrysoprase is produced in Australia, but it is not widely used because supplies are limited.
